Between The Notes: A Sondheim Score Study
The Livingston Theatre Company will be hosting the first of our “Between the Notes” workshops. To tie in with the first show of our 2019-2020 season, Sweeney Todd, this first event will be a Score Study Workshop focusing on the music of Stephen Sondheim.
Come out and learn what it takes to understand and teach the musical stylings of the Broadway legend known for his lyrical mastery, modern use of harmony, and speech imitating songs. Lead by current and former music directors from The LTC, this workshop will take a look at the various elements and challenges of a Sondheim score by using Into the Woods as an example and will also go through the process of teaching works of this length and difficulty in a music directing position.
When: Thursday, Sep. 26th at 6:30pm
Where: Marryott Music Building Room 118, at Mason Gross School of the Arts
This workshop will last approximately 1.5 hours including a Question & Answer period with our experienced musical staff. For more information or questions, feel free to reach out to our Music Coordinator, Kira Harris, or our Artistic Director, David Dizdari, by emailing music@rultc.org. We hope to see you there!
