The Livingston Theatre Company is excited to announce our 21st season!
Willkommen! Join us as we open our 21st season with Cabaret! Comprised of music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Joe Masteroff, Cabaret takes place in The Kit Kat Club, a nightclub in 1930’s Berlin, Germany. A musical filled with lust, desire, and acceptance, Cabaret follows the stories of singer Sally Bowles, British academic Brian Roberts, German boarding house owner Fräulein Schneider, and her elderly suitor Herr Schultz, a Jewish fruit vendor, as the Nazi Party quietly takes hold of Germany and the world they know is stripped away.
Violet, the second show of our season, is comprised of music by Jeanine Tesori and libretto by Brian Crawley. Based on the short story "The Ugliest Pilgrim" by Doris Betts, Violet tells the tale of a young disfigured woman who embarks on a journey by bus from her farm in Spruce Pine, North Carolina all the way to Tulsa, Oklahoma in the hopes of being healed.
“Luck be a lady tonight!” What better way to close out our 21st season than with Guys and Dolls, a musical romantic comedy involving the unlikeliest of Manhattan pairings between a high-rolling gambler, a puritanical missionary, a showgirl dreaming of the straight-and-narrow, and a crap game manager who is anything but. Set in the Manhattan of Damon Runyon’s short stories, Guys and Dolls tells the story of con-man Nathan Detroit’s efforts to find a new life for his illegal, but notorious, craps game. This classic show features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrow.
