Little Shop of Horrors Pit Auditions Announcement!
Calling all instrumentalists! Do you want to be part of the the team that will “never stop the terror”? Then come on down to Little Shop of Horrors Pit Auditions on Sunday, September 25th 12:00-3:00PM!
Auditions will be held at the Livingston Theatre Building (31 Postal Plaza), which is down the street from the Quads bus stop on the Livingston campus. Auditions are open, so just show up at the Livingston Theatre Building any time during the above time frame and we’ll be sure to hear you. Also, all pit auditions this year will be BLIND.
NOTE: You must be a current Rutgers undergraduate student to audition.
The audition will consist of a prepared piece of your choosing, 2-3 minutes, which showcases your musical and/or technical abilities, as well as sight-reading from the Little Shop book for your instrument. Both of these are mandatory. Those auditioning on multiple instruments need only prepare a solo piece on one instrument, but must sight read on all instruments they are auditioning on.
Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour".
Musically Directed by Liam McGeary & Megan Kalberer
