The Livingston Theatre Company offers plenty of ways to get involved in our outstanding productions. We pride ourselves on the fact that all of our staff, management, actors, and crews are student led and populated. There are always multiple ways to get involved with our company. Everyone is always inviting of new members, we hope you choose to join our family.
An usher for LTC serves as a direct link between the company and the audience when they arrive at a performance. You will be serving as an ambassador for the theatre as well as a host/hostess to our patrons of the evening. A welcoming smile and kind greeting can lift up the spirit of a patron as well as ease the layers of tension a patron may have accumulated from a bad day. If we all act in a kind and gentle manner, then the patrons are also more likely to act in the same manner, even if a problem arises. To adopt a souther phrase; you attract more flies with sugar than vinegar. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to usher a show.
Join a Crew
Work behind the scenes to make sure that the show goes off without a hitch. Being on a run, build, painting, or wardrobe crew (just to name a few) is a great way to get involved with minimal commitment (weekends and tech week). This is a great way to get your foot in the door and find out more about LTC and theater as a whole. It is often the dedication of the crew that sets the caliber of the performances. See the Tech Page for more specific information
The most popular and traditional route to involvement in LTC. Since the LTC puts on only musicals, actors and actresses are expected to be able to act and sing, and usually dance too! Auditions happen once per show, so be prepared. Find our more information about auditioning, dates, and what you need to do on the Audition Page.
Play an Instrument
What's a musical without music? Musicians are integral to our shows. The orchestra rehearses on its own schedule and with the actors and plays at all performances. The conductor of the orchestra is usually the musical director of the show (the person responsible for how the actors sound) and has worked with the cast through the 5-7 week rehearsal process. To be a musical director, apply for a specific production via the Production Staff Application. If you play an instrument and would like to play in an orchestra, please send an email with your name, instruments, availability, and contact information to email@example.com. If you play the piano the LTC is always in need of talented accompanists for auditions and special events throughout the year. If your interested, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are you a natural leader? Do you have a vision for a show that the LTC is producing that you want to see come to life? With positions varying from Director to Choreographer and a plethora of design positions available, these people bring a show to life. A show's production staff is directly responsible for the artistic integrity of the company. Learn more about various positions here, and complete and application here.
Join the General Board
If the production staff's task is to develop great musicals, it is the General Board's task to develop LTC as an organization. Colloquially known as the Gen Board, members have tasks ranging from raising money and advertising, to designing posters and selling tickets. Others plan company-bonding events, and a few even maintain the historical records of the company. Above all, the Gen Board is the business back bone of the organization, it is their goal to keep everything running smoothly. If being in one of these positions interests you, read more about them, or even apply for one!
